The San Jose hotels we run to
Santana Row is central to the whole valley, which is why a good share of visiting executives stay there rather than downtown. South Bay accommodation splits between downtown San Jose, Santana Row and the peninsula houses up towards Menlo Park and Palo Alto. Where you stay decides how much of the week you spend in the car: Santana Row sits centrally for the whole valley, while Sand Hill Road puts you among the venture firms and a long way from San Jose. Vehicle access at all of them is good, which is a relief after the older cities.
These are the addresses people actually give a chauffeur in the South Bay. Campus addresses here routinely put a vehicle at a perimeter fence rather than an entrance.
Where visiting executives stay. Downtown and Santana Row take most of the visiting corporate traffic, with the Sand Hill Road properties serving the venture business up the peninsula.
Signia by Hilton San Jose
Downtown San Jose
The largest hotel downtown, attached to the convention centre with substantial arrival capacity built for group business. During a major conference it is the centre of everything. Straightforward vehicle access and a very short run to SJC.
Hotel Valencia Santana Row
Santana Row
In the middle of Santana Row, which is pedestrianised along its main stretch, so the hotel entrance sits on the perimeter road rather than the row itself. Once you know that it is simple. Central for the whole valley, which is its real appeal.
Rosewood Sand Hill
Menlo Park
On Sand Hill Road itself, low-rise across generous grounds with easy vehicle access and a quiet arrival. Staying here puts you inside the venture district rather than commuting into it. A long run from SJC and minutes from San Carlos or Palo Alto if you fly privately.
Nobu Hotel Palo Alto
Palo Alto
In downtown Palo Alto near University Avenue, compact with a modest entrance on streets that are narrow and busy in the evening. Close to Stanford and well placed for the northern valley. Works best with an agreed point at dinner time.
Four Seasons Silicon Valley
East Palo Alto
Directly off the 101 at East Palo Alto, which makes it the easiest of the peninsula houses to reach and to leave — the freeway is immediately there. Purpose-built vehicle access. A sensible base for a week that spans the whole valley.
AC Hotel San Jose Downtown
Downtown San Jose
Downtown with straightforward street access and none of the complexity of the older markets. Close to the convention centre and the SAP Center, so event nights affect the surrounding blocks. Minutes from the airport.
Hotel De Anza
Downtown San Jose
A small historic house downtown on Santa Clara Street, with a compact entrance and limited space outside. Characterful and tight, which means the arrival is worth agreeing rather than assuming. Very close to SJC.
The Santana Row apartments and residences
Santana Row
A good deal of longer-stay executive accommodation sits in and around Santana Row, in buildings with their own entrances off the perimeter roads rather than the pedestrian centre. For a multi-week stay these recur, and we set up standing arrangements with agreed points.
From the San Jose hotels to the airports
Door to kerb, ordinary conditions. The peninsula houses are much closer to SFO than to SJC, which is frequently the deciding factor on where to stay.

How San Jose hotel transfers are priced
Hotel transfers are quoted per route and confirmed in writing before you travel, with no surge pricing at any hour. Hourly hire suits a day that begins and ends at the hotel with campus stops between, which given valley parking is usually the cheaper answer as well.
If you have not chosen where to stay and your meetings span the valley, ask us. Santana Row or East Palo Alto will save you an hour a day compared with the wrong end of the peninsula.
