The San Jose fields
San Jose, Palo Alto, San Carlos and Moffett all serve this valley, and the difference between them is measured in meetings rather than miles. Silicon Valley carries a concentration of private movement that reflects what happens here, spread across the SJC private terminals, Palo Alto, San Carlos and Moffett Federal Airfield. The peninsula fields put a principal within minutes of Sand Hill Road; SJC covers the South Bay properly and takes anything. We work from the tail number and coordinate with the FBO rather than a published time.
Mineta San Jose private terminals
Substantial FBO facilities away from the commercial terminals, on a field with no meaningful constraint on aircraft type and good international handling. For anything in the South Bay — Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, San Jose itself — this is the right field and the ground time is minimal.
Palo Alto (PAO) and San Carlos (SQL)
Both sit on the peninsula within minutes of Menlo Park and Sand Hill Road, which for venture business is the entire proposition. They are small fields with real limits on aircraft size and operating hours, so whether they suit you is a question for your operator rather than for us.
Moffett Federal Airfield (NUQ)
At Mountain View, with access governed by its own arrangements rather than being generally available, and used by a specific set of operators. When it is available to you it sits in the middle of the valley and the ground time is very short indeed.
