New York airports

John F. Kennedy International (JFK)

Multiple terminals spread around a loop road, with no realistic way to walk between them, so the terminal has to be right before the vehicle moves. We confirm it against the flight number rather than the ticket, because carriers move between terminals more often than passengers expect. International arrivals at JFK routinely take an hour to clear, and we hold the vehicle rather than charging waiting time against a queue nobody controls.

LaGuardia (LGA)

The closest commercial field to Midtown and, since the rebuild, the easiest of the three to work. Terminal B and Terminal C each have their own arrivals level and their own approach road, and choosing wrongly costs a full loop of the airport. LaGuardia is also the most weather-exposed of the New York airports: short runways and no room to absorb delay, so we watch the inbound aircraft rather than the schedule.

Terminal B & C · Closest to Midtown · Weather-aware scheduling

Newark Liberty (EWR)

In New Jersey, which matters more than the mileage suggests. A Newark run crosses either the Lincoln or the Holland Tunnel, and the tunnel is the entire journey — the same trip is forty minutes or ninety depending on when you enter it. For a morning departure out of Newark we will usually recommend leaving earlier than the estimate, and we would rather tell you that at booking than apologise for it later.

Teterboro (TEB) and private aviation

Teterboro is the principal private field for Manhattan and among the busiest general-aviation airports in the United States, with several FBOs operating on it. Westchester County and Morristown handle the overflow and are sometimes the better call depending on where you are staying. For private arrivals we work from the tail number and coordinate with the FBO directly, so an early landing is met on the ramp. Tell us the field and the FBO when you book and we will confirm coverage before you travel.

Where we work in New York

Midtown

Agree a corner, not a building. Where most of our New York corporate work sits — the Plaza District, Grand Central and the Park Avenue corridor. We agree a specific corner rather than a building entrance, which sounds pedantic until the first time it saves you a block of walking in the rain.

Financial District & Hudson Yards

For Newark, downtown beats Midtown. Downtown and the far West Side now function as two separate business districts with two different traffic patterns. Both sit convenient to the tunnels, which is the reason a Newark departure often runs smoother from downtown than from Midtown.

Congestion pricing

The charge is its own line on the quote. Manhattan below 60th Street carries a congestion charge on entry. We disclose it as a line on the quote rather than folding it into the fare or adding it afterwards, and where a routing can reasonably avoid the zone without costing you time we will say so.

Brooklyn, Queens & the outer boroughs

Materially closer to JFK than Midtown. Downtown Brooklyn, DUMBO and Long Island City carry real corporate weight now, and all three are materially closer to JFK than Midtown is. A Brooklyn pickup for a JFK departure is one of the more forgiving runs in the city.

Westchester, Connecticut & the corporate corridor

Often better flown via Westchester County. Greenwich, Stamford and the Westchester office parks generate steady executive travel that has nothing to do with Manhattan, and is frequently better served through Westchester County Airport than through the city fields. Long-distance runs up the corridor are quoted per trip.

Typical journey times to and from Manhattan

Distances in New York tell you almost nothing; the crossing does. We quote airport runs with genuine allowance rather than the number a mapping app produces at three in the morning.

Hotel transfers in New York

Several of the Fifth and Madison Avenue houses have a side-street entrance that works far better than the avenue frontage, particularly between four and seven in the evening when the avenues stop moving. We use it unless you ask otherwise, and we agree the cross street rather than the address.

Events & venues in New York

Javits sits on the far West Side with limited approaches, so a show morning there needs an earlier start than the distance suggests. For MetLife and the outer-borough stadiums we quote the return leg honestly — leaving is always slower than arriving.

Broadway curtains fall within a few minutes of each other and the theatre district becomes impassable immediately afterwards. We stage a few blocks out and come to you on a call rather than sitting in the crush. Hamptons and Hudson Valley runs are quoted per trip and are usually better as a day hire.

Universities & campuses in New York

The Upper East Side medical corridor along York and First Avenues is dense enough that we confirm the building and the entrance, not the hospital name. Appointment days are better booked hourly — the return time is genuinely unknown.
