San Jose arrivals
SJC is three miles from downtown San Jose and in the middle of the valley. For a Silicon Valley week it beats SFO comfortably. Mineta San Jose sits right in the valley, minutes from downtown and a short run to Santa Clara, Sunnyvale and Mountain View. For anyone whose week is spent at the valley campuses it is the obvious airport, and flying into SFO out of habit costs forty minutes in each direction on the 101. Why this airport rather than SFO
For a week of meetings in Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View or Palo Alto, SJC saves a substantial amount of driving compared with SFO, and the 101 between them is not a road anyone wants to spend time on. If the flights work we will say so before you book rather than after you have landed.
Delays and early landings
We track the tail number, so an aircraft down early is met early and a diversion is re-planned before you clear the terminal. Because we cover SFO and Oakland as well, a diversion north does not mean starting the booking again — we meet you where you actually land.
Getting to the San Jose campuses
The gate is not the address
Several of the largest technology campuses have visitor entrances nowhere near the address a mapping application offers, and some need a name on a list before a vehicle reaches the barrier. Arriving from an overnight flight is the worst moment to discover that. We confirm the building and the visitor gate before the day.
Sand Hill Road is further than it looks
From SJC up to Menlo Park and Sand Hill Road is a real journey on the 101 or the 280, and the 280 is usually the better road despite looking longer. For venture meetings we plan that leg rather than defaulting to the obvious route.

Door to kerb, ordinary conditions. The valley commute is the variable and it is directional, which is worth planning around rather than averaging.
The constraint is the 101 and the 880 at peak, and the fact that campus addresses here routinely put you at a perimeter fence rather than an entrance.
