The San Diego hotels we run to
Coronado is reached by a bridge and Del Mar is thirty miles up the coast. Neither is a short run, whatever the map implies. San Diego accommodation splits between downtown and the Gaslamp, Coronado across the bay, and the coastal resorts running north through La Jolla, Del Mar and Carlsbad. The downtown properties are close to everything; the coastal ones are genuinely distant and should be quoted as transfers rather than hops. Vehicle access is generally good, with the Gaslamp during convention weeks the exception.
These are the addresses people actually give a chauffeur in San Diego. The airport sits almost downtown, so the length in any journey comes from heading north.
Where visiting executives stay. Downtown and Coronado take the convention and leisure traffic, with the La Jolla and Del Mar properties serving the research and corporate business up the coast.
Hotel del Coronado
Coronado
The landmark on Coronado, reached by the bridge with a long approach along Orange Avenue and a substantial arrival court. The property is large enough that the building matters. Departure timing here is set by the bridge rather than the distance, and we start earlier accordingly.
Fairmont Grand Del Mar
Carmel Valley
Inland in Carmel Valley rather than on the coast, up a private canyon road with a grand arrival court at the top. Quiet and well away from everything, which means every journey from here is a proper one. Closer to Carlsbad airport than to San Diego International.
The US Grant
Downtown
On Broadway in the middle of downtown, a historic house with a covered entrance and good access. Close to the convention centre, so during the largest shows the surrounding blocks restrict and access moves to designated points. Minutes from the airport otherwise.
Pendry San Diego
Gaslamp Quarter
In the Gaslamp on Fifth Avenue, which is lively at night and effectively pedestrian during the biggest conventions. The hotel entrance works outside those times. We agree a point on a wider cross street for evening pickups rather than attempting Fifth.
Rancho Valencia
Rancho Santa Fe
In Rancho Santa Fe among the estates, low-rise casitas spread across substantial grounds with a quiet arrival court. The casita number is necessary rather than helpful. A long run from San Diego International and a short one from Carlsbad.
L’Auberge Del Mar
Del Mar
In Del Mar village above the beach, compact with a modest entrance on a street that fills during the racing season at the track nearby. Race days genuinely change access here and are worth mentioning at booking.
Manchester Grand Hyatt
Downtown waterfront
On the downtown waterfront beside the convention centre, a very large property with arrival capacity to match. Built for volume, which makes group arrivals straightforward. During the biggest shows it is at the centre of everything happening.
InterContinental San Diego
Downtown waterfront
Also on the waterfront north of the convention centre, newer with purpose-built vehicle access and good approaches from Harbor Drive. One of the easier downtown arrivals and a very short run to the airport.
Estancia La Jolla
La Jolla
On Torrey Pines Road beside the university and the research mesa, low-rise around courtyards with easy access. Its position makes it the obvious base for anyone whose week is spent at UCSD, Scripps or Salk — those are minutes away rather than a drive.
Park Hyatt Aviara
Carlsbad
In Carlsbad on a golf resort with a long entrance drive and generous grounds. Well north, so the run to San Diego International is a genuine journey and Carlsbad airport is minutes away. A common choice for golf and conference groups.
From the San Diego hotels to the airport
Door to kerb, ordinary conditions. Downtown is minutes; the coastal resorts are genuine transfers and we quote them that way.

How San Diego hotel transfers are priced
Hotel and resort transfers are quoted per route and confirmed in writing before you travel, with no surge pricing at any hour. The coastal properties are quoted as the genuine transfers they are rather than as a local run with a surprise at the end.
Tell us the casita or building number at the resorts. On a property spread across a canyon it is the difference between arriving at your door and arriving at a gate.
