A very large campus in La Jolla with several distinct areas, internal roads and a street address that will reliably put a vehicle a long way from the building you want. The college or building name is the useful instruction. Commencement week fills the whole mesa.
San Diego State University
College Area
East of the city in the College Area with its own trolley station and reasonable vehicle access. Adjacent to Snapdragon Stadium, so event nights there affect the campus approaches directly. Straightforward outside those times.
University of San Diego
Linda Vista
On a hill in Linda Vista overlooking Mission Bay, a contained campus with a single main approach that climbs. Handsome and easy to work once you are on the right road. Close to the airport, which makes a combined visit and flight straightforward.
Scripps Research
Torrey Pines
On the mesa among its neighbours, a large research campus with several buildings and an entrance that is not obvious from North Torrey Pines Road. Visiting scientists arrive here from all over the world, frequently straight from an overnight flight, and the last thing they need is a wrong building.
Salk Institute
Torrey Pines
On the clifftop beside Scripps, architecturally famous and physically modest in footprint, with limited parking and a single approach. Visitors frequently come for conferences and lectures rather than work, which produces concentrated arrivals. We plan those as a group movement.

Operates from Hillcrest in the city and Jacobs Medical Center up on the mesa, which are two completely different journeys under one name. Confirming which is the most valuable step at booking. Both have separate entrances for different services.

On Genesee Avenue in La Jolla, a substantial hospital campus with its own parking structures and clear internal signage. Easier to work than the research institutes because it is built for public traffic rather than for staff.

In Serra Mesa with a dedicated family entrance and a constant flow of families travelling with children and equipment, many from across the county and from Mexico. The vehicle matters as much as the route and we ask about seating at booking.
