The two Miami airports

Two major airports half an hour apart, and for anything north of downtown the cheaper flight is frequently into the wrong one. Miami International is one of the largest international gateways in the country and behaves like it; Fort Lauderdale is compact, thirty miles up the coast and considerably easier to work. For anyone staying in Aventura, Sunny Isles or Broward, FLL is usually the better arrival point once ground time is counted honestly. We track every arrival by flight number, meet inside the terminal and hold through customs rather than starting a clock.

Miami International (MIA)

One terminal building divided into North, Central and South concourse groups that function as separate airports for pickup purposes. Latin American arrivals bunch heavily through the evening and customs can run long, so we hold through rather than starting a clock. The arrivals roadway is genuinely difficult at peak, which is why meeting inside is the default here rather than a preference.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL)

Half an hour up the coast with four compact terminals and an arrivals level that is far easier to work than Miami’s. For anyone in north Miami-Dade or anywhere in Broward it is frequently quicker end to end. We will say so when the booking makes it obvious, because the fare difference rarely covers the ground time.

  • Four terminals
  • Broward advantage
  • Simpler arrivals

Miami season, events and timing

South Florida traffic is seasonal

From roughly December to April the same journey takes materially longer, and during Art Basel, the boat shows and the tennis it stops resembling a normal city altogether. The figures on this page assume ordinary rush hour rather than an event week. In season we start earlier and tell you why.

Delays, diversions and early landings

We track the tail number, so an arrival down early is met early and a diversion is re-planned before you clear the aircraft. Because we cover both airports, weather that sends a Miami arrival to Fort Lauderdale does not mean starting the booking again — we meet you where you actually land.

How Miami airport transfers are priced

Every airport route is quoted per route and confirmed in writing before you travel, with no surge pricing at any hour — which matters more here than in most markets, because South Florida rideshare pricing during season and events does exactly the opposite.

If you are staying north of downtown and the flights are not booked, ask us first. Fort Lauderdale instead of Miami regularly saves forty minutes in each direction.
