The Seattle campuses we run to
The University of Washington campus is large enough that the building is the only useful instruction, and Harborview sits on a hill with a constrained approach. Seattle’s universities and medical centres generate constant academic, research and patient travel, much of it recurring. The UW campus is very large and the medical institutions are spread across the city rather than clustered, with Fred Hutch on the waterfront edge and Harborview up on First Hill. We confirm the institution, the building and the entrance before the day, because guessing costs a long walk here.
Universities and medical campuses. The university and the medical centres generate constant academic and research travel, and the technology campuses on the Eastside are gated and large.
University of Washington
University District
A very large campus north-east of downtown with multiple entrances and a great deal of restricted internal access. The university name will place a vehicle a long walk from most destinations, so we ask for the building. Home football Saturdays fill the whole northern approach.
Seattle University
First Hill
On First Hill just east of downtown, compact and walkable with straightforward vehicle access around the edges. Shares First Hill with several hospitals, so the approach roads carry medical traffic through the day.
Seattle Pacific University
Queen Anne
On the north slope of Queen Anne above the ship canal, a small campus on residential streets with a steep approach from the south. Coming up the north side is considerably easier and we route that way.
UW Medical Center
Montlake
On the Montlake side of the university campus, sharing its traffic and its bridge. The 520 approach and the Montlake Bridge openings are both genuine variables here — a bridge opening for a vessel stops everything for several minutes and cannot be planned around, only allowed for.
Harborview Medical Center
First Hill
On First Hill with a genuinely constrained approach up a steep gradient and separate entrances for different services. The regional trauma centre, so the surrounding roads carry emergency traffic at any hour. We confirm which entrance the appointment needs.
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center
South Lake Union
On the South Lake Union waterfront edge, modern with proper vehicle access designed in. Patients travel here from across the country on treatment schedules that run for weeks, and those recur — we set them up as standing arrangements with the same chauffeur wherever we can.
Seattle Children’s
Laurelhurst
In Laurelhurst north-east of the university, with a dedicated family entrance and a constant flow of families travelling with children and equipment. The residential approach is narrow. We ask about seating and equipment at booking rather than at the kerb.
Swedish Medical Center
First Hill & across the region
The main campus is on First Hill alongside Harborview and Seattle University, with other sites across the region under the same name. Confirming which campus is the useful step, because they are genuinely different journeys.
To the Seattle campuses
Door to campus, ordinary conditions. The Montlake figures cannot account for a bridge opening, which is why we allow for one rather than pretending it will not happen.

How Seattle campus and medical transfers are priced
Campus and medical transfers are quoted per route and confirmed in writing before you travel, with no surge pricing at any hour. Recurring treatment schedules are set up as a standing arrangement at an agreed rate with a named chauffeur, rather than quoted journey by journey.
Treatment days are better booked hourly. The return time is rarely knowable, and recalling a vehicle up onto First Hill takes longer than the map suggests.
