The New York venues we run to

Getting to a New York venue is rarely the problem. Getting away from it, with twenty thousand other people, is the whole job. Every major New York venue empties at once onto streets that were full before the event started, and the ones that sit on top of a subway hub empty faster than any road can absorb. We do not queue at the gates. We agree a collection point a few streets clear of the venue, stage there before the end, and tell you exactly where to walk — which is reliably quicker than being collected at the door and considerably less frustrating.

Conventions, arenas and theatres. New York event work is governed by street closures rather than traffic. A game at the Garden or a night at Lincoln Center empties thousands of people onto a few blocks at once, and the vehicle has to already be positioned somewhere sensible.

Culture, dining and the region. Evening work concentrates around the theatre district, the downtown restaurant rooms and the museums. These are the bookings where holding a vehicle beats trying to find one at eleven at night in the rain.

Javits Center

Hudson Yards

The largest convention floor in the city, on the far West Side with limited approach roads and a loading pattern that takes priority during move-in and move-out. During the big shows the whole of Eleventh Avenue becomes the constraint. We work from east of the venue rather than the front, and time pickups against the hall closing rather than the session.

  • Far West Side
  • Move-in weeks
  • Staged east

Madison Square Garden

Midtown

Directly above Penn Station, which means the crowd leaving an event and the commuter flow arrive in the same place at the same time. There is no good vehicle position at the doors and there never will be. We collect from an agreed corner several blocks north or east and it is genuinely faster than any alternative.

  • Above Penn Station
  • No door pickup
  • Agreed corner

Lincoln Center

Upper West Side

Several halls sharing one plaza, so a night with performances ending close together produces a single very large departure onto Columbus and Broadway. The plaza itself is pedestrian. We stage on the side streets west of Broadway and come to you on a call rather than idling at the front.

  • Multiple halls
  • Pedestrian plaza
  • Call-forward

Barclays Center

Brooklyn

Atlantic Avenue in downtown Brooklyn, sitting on top of one of the largest transit interchanges in the city, which helpfully takes a large share of the crowd. Road access is better here than at any comparable Manhattan venue. We still work from a block clear of the plaza rather than the front.

  • Brooklyn
  • Heavy transit share
  • Better road access

Radio City Music Hall

Midtown

Sixth Avenue at 50th, in the middle of Rockefeller Center, which during the holiday season is effectively closed to vehicles by sheer pedestrian volume. Outside that season it works reasonably from the side streets. In December we plan every pickup here from several blocks out as a matter of course.

  • Rockefeller Center
  • December planning
  • Side-street pickup

Yankee Stadium

The Bronx

The Bronx, reached by the Major Deegan or the Grand Concourse, both of which fill in both directions on a game night. The advantage here is space: there are workable staging positions a short walk from the gates, which is more than can be said for the Manhattan venues.

  • The Bronx
  • Deegan traffic
  • Workable staging

Citi Field and the USTA Center

Queens

Sharing a site in Flushing Meadows, and during the US Open the tennis alone moves enormous numbers through Queens for a fortnight. Late finishes are routine there, which suits hourly hire better than a booked pickup time that a fifth set will ignore.

  • Flushing Meadows
  • US Open fortnight
  • Hourly hire

The Broadway theatres

Theater District

Forty-odd houses in a few blocks, most of them letting out within twenty minutes of each other, into streets that are pedestrianised in part and gridlocked in the rest. This is the single worst pickup situation in the city and the one where our approach saves the most time: we agree a point east of Eighth or west of Sixth and never attempt Times Square itself.

  • Simultaneous curtain
  • Never Times Square
  • East or west of the district

Getting to the New York venues

Door to venue, ordinary conditions. The peak column here means an event night rather than a rush hour, which in New York is frequently the larger of the two.

How New York event work is priced

Event transfers are quoted per route, and event nights are almost always better booked hourly — a curtain does not fall to a schedule and a vehicle released at the start of the evening has to be found again at the worst possible moment. There is no surge pricing at any hour.

For a group or a corporate hospitality night we plan the departure as a single staged movement rather than a set of separate bookings, and give you one point of contact on the night rather than several drivers to chase.
