The New Orleans venues we run to
Parade routes close whole corridors for days, not hours. Mardi Gras is planned months out, not on the morning. New Orleans hosts events at a scale far beyond its size, and during the largest ones it is not a normal city at all. Mardi Gras closes corridors for days on a published but widely underestimated schedule; Jazz Fest fills the roads to the Fair Grounds for two weekends; a Super Bowl or a Final Four takes every room and every vehicle. We plan those as operations and stage clear of venues the rest of the year.
Conventions, arenas and venues. The convention centre and the Superdome sit close together at the river end of the CBD, and a large event at either fills the whole district.
Music, food and the region. Evening work runs to the restaurants and music rooms, and the river road and the coast are regular day hires.
Ernest N. Morial Convention Center
Riverfront
Over a mile long along the river with entrances numbered down its length that are a genuine walk apart. Hall A and Hall J are not the same destination. We take the hall number at booking and dispatch to the correct entrance, which on a show day saves twenty minutes and a walk in the humidity.
Caesars Superdome
CBD
In the middle of the CBD rather than out in a car park, which means a full house empties directly into the business district. There is no pickup at the doors on a game night. We collect from an agreed point several blocks away and walk you the short distance.
Smoothie King Center
CBD
Adjacent to the Superdome and sharing its approaches entirely, so two events on the same site is the combination worth checking. Smaller crowds and correspondingly easier, but the same streets and the same constraints.
Saenger Theatre
Canal Street
On Canal at the edge of the Quarter, a restored house with no forecourt and streetcars running past. Curtain coincides with Quarter evening traffic. We work from a cross street on the CBD side rather than attempting Canal itself.
Orpheum Theater New Orleans
CBD
On Roosevelt Way in the CBD, restored and compact, letting out into streets that are wider and calmer than the Quarter blocks. Easier than the Saenger by some margin. An agreed point a street away handles it comfortably.
Fair Grounds Race Course
Mid-City
In Mid-City, and the home of Jazz Fest for two weekends each spring when the surrounding neighbourhood fills completely and the approach roads close. Outside the festival it is a straightforward racecourse with its own parking. Jazz Fest is planned, not estimated.
Mardi Gras World
Riverfront
On the river near the Convention Center, a working float warehouse that doubles as a large private event venue. Its own access and parking, and straightforward outside convention weeks. A common choice for corporate evening events.
The Mardi Gras parade routes
Across the city
Parades close whole corridors — St. Charles, Canal, Napoleon — for hours at a time across two weeks, on a published schedule that visitors routinely underestimate. An address on a route is unreachable for the duration. We plan around the route rather than the distance and say so at booking.
Getting to the New Orleans venues
Door to venue, ordinary conditions. The right-hand column means an event night; Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest are planned separately because a range would be misleading.
| Route | Approx. distance | Off-peak | Allow on an event night |
|---|---|---|---|
| CBD to the Morial Convention Center | 1 mile | 6–10 min | 20–40 min |
| CBD to the Superdome | 1 mile | 5–10 min | 25–50 min |
| French Quarter to the Superdome | 2 miles | 10–15 min | 30–55 min |
| CBD to the Fair Grounds | 4 miles | 14–20 min | 35–70 min |
| MSY to the Superdome | 15 miles | 22–30 min | 40–65 min |
How New Orleans event work is priced
Event transfers are quoted per route, and event evenings are almost always better booked hourly. All of it is quoted per route and confirmed in writing before you travel, with no surge pricing at any hour, including through Mardi Gras — which is exactly the week the alternatives do the opposite.
For Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest or a major convention, book as far ahead as you can. Those weeks commit every vehicle in the city, and the parade closures make timing a planning question rather than an estimate.
