How New Orleans convention work is run
The Morial Convention Center is over a mile long. The hall number is the useful instruction, not the building name. New Orleans hosts events far beyond the scale its size would suggest, and convention work is the backbone of corporate business here. The Morial Convention Center runs over a mile along the river with entrances numbered down its length that are a genuine walk apart. Add a downtown where the Quarter is closed to vehicles most evenings, and the structure that works is hourly hire with points agreed in advance.
A convention centre shaped like a street
The Morial is not a building with halls in it so much as a mile of riverfront with doors along the side. Hall A to Hall J is a walk of roughly fifteen minutes indoors, longer outside in August. Taking the hall number at booking is not administrative tidiness here; it is the difference between arriving at your meeting and arriving at the correct building.
The city gets in the way, pleasantly
Delegates here do not go back to the hotel after the last session, and the places they go instead are largely unreachable by car. A group of eight that scatters into the Quarter at six o’clock cannot be collected from where it went. We agree rendezvous points on the perimeter in advance and tell people where to walk, which is unglamorous and works.
Humidity is a scheduling factor
From May to September the walk between two points a few blocks apart is genuinely unpleasant in business clothes, and people who would happily walk in another city will not walk here. That changes how many vehicle movements a day actually needs, and we plan for the real number rather than the optimistic one.
New Orleans accounts and billing
Invoiced by event, not by journey
For a convention group the invoice is structured by show rather than as sixty separate lines, so it reconciles against the budget you actually set. Cost centres, event codes or attendee groups — captured at booking rather than reconstructed afterwards.
Booked by planners, revised constantly
Almost all of this work is placed by event and travel planners months ahead and revised repeatedly as the agenda moves. We handle revisions by reply rather than rebooking, and hold the manifest as a living document right up to the week itself.
Around New Orleans

Notes on New Orleans districts
The French Quarter. Hotel addresses here are frequently unreachable at the time you want them. We agree a workable point on the perimeter and walk you the short distance.
Garden District & Uptown. Uptown adds Tulane and Loyola.
Conventions, festivals and Mardi Gras. Parade routes close whole corridors for days around Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest fills the roads to the Fair Grounds, and a big convention takes every room and every vehicle. Those weeks are planned as operations.
Weather, and planning around it. Chauffeurs plan alternates rather than discovering a flooded underpass with a passenger aboard.
The Central Business District & Warehouse District.
How New Orleans corporate work is priced
New Orleans is quoted per route and confirmed in writing before you travel, with no surge pricing at any hour — which matters most during exactly the weeks this city fills. Hourly hire suits convention days, festival evenings and any day that touches the Quarter. Rates are set per market, so a New Orleans quote reflects New Orleans.
Hourly hire is quoted at a market rate with a stated minimum and no surge at any hour, including through Mardi Gras and the largest conventions. Group movements are quoted as a programme rather than per vehicle. All transfers are quoted per route and confirmed in writing before you travel, with no surge pricing at any hour.
For a major convention, give us the shape of the week rather than the individual journeys. We will build the manifest and quote the programme, which is cheaper and very much more reliable than booking as you go.
