The Washington DC campuses we run to
Georgetown sits at the top of a hill in the middle of a residential neighbourhood, and NIH is a federal campus with a gate. Neither is a simple address. Washington carries an unusual concentration of universities, policy schools and federal medical research, and much of the travel is recurring — visiting faculty, fellows, candidates and patients on a schedule. Several of these campuses are gated or credentialed, and NIH in particular is a federal site with a screening process rather than an entrance. We confirm the building, the gate and the credential requirement before the day.
Universities and medical campuses. The universities generate steady conference, faculty and medical travel, and several sit on hills with narrow approaches that were never designed for a queue of vehicles.
Georgetown University
Georgetown
At the top of the hill above the neighbourhood, reached through narrow residential streets that are difficult at the best of times and worse on a weekend. The campus has controlled vehicle entrances and the main gate is not always the right one. We confirm the building rather than accepting the university name.
George Washington University
Foggy Bottom
Woven into Foggy Bottom rather than set apart from it, so a campus address is a city address with all that implies — one-way streets, limited stopping and constant traffic. The university name alone will not place a vehicle usefully here.
Howard University
Shaw
On the hill above Shaw, a proper campus with its own gates and a hospital on the same site. Commencement here is a major event that reshapes the surrounding streets for a weekend and is worth naming when you book.
American University
Tenleytown
In upper north-west near Tenleytown, residential and well away from downtown traffic, which makes it one of the more comfortable campuses here to work. A longer run to Reagan National than the central addresses, and a shorter one to Dulles.
Johns Hopkins SAIS
Dupont Circle
On Massachusetts Avenue near Dupont Circle, a single building rather than a campus, on a busy avenue where stopping is limited. The side streets work better. Close to Embassy Row, so reception evenings affect the surrounding blocks.
Catholic University
Brookland
In Brookland in the north-east, a large open campus with straightforward vehicle access and parking — genuinely one of the easiest in the city. Adjacent to the basilica, which holds events that fill the approaches several times a year.
Georgetown University Hospital
Georgetown
On Reservoir Road above the university, reached through the same difficult residential approach and with separate entrances for different services. Treatment days are better booked hourly: the return time is rarely knowable and recalling a vehicle up that hill takes longer than it should.
MedStar Washington
Northeast
A large hospital campus in the north-east with its own road network on site and clear signage, which makes it more straightforward than its size suggests. Shift change is the one time worth avoiding on the approach roads.
Children’s National
Northwest
On Michigan Avenue with a dedicated family drop-off designed for the job. Families travelling with children and equipment are a large part of this work and the vehicle matters as much as the route. We ask about equipment at booking rather than discovering it at the kerb.
NIH Bethesda
Bethesda
A federal campus in Bethesda with a security gate, vehicle screening and a visitor process that takes real time. Credentials and passenger details are needed in advance and a vehicle without them does not enter. We route to the correct gate and build the screening into the journey time rather than treating it as a surprise.
To the Washington DC campuses
Door to campus, ordinary conditions. The NIH figure assumes screening at the gate, because pretending otherwise would make the number useless.

How Washington DC campus transfers are priced
Campus transfers are quoted per route and confirmed in writing before you travel, with no surge pricing at any hour. Recurring academic and medical bookings are set up as a standing arrangement with a named chauffeur wherever the schedule allows.
For a federal or credentialed campus, tell us at booking. We supply vehicle and chauffeur details in advance so the screening is a queue rather than a refusal.
