The Washington DC venues we run to

The Kennedy Center empties three halls at once onto one access road beside a river. That is the shape of event work here. Washington event work divides between the large venues and the reception circuit — embassies, museums, the Hill and private clubs — and the second is at least as much of our business as the first. Both are shaped by security and by closures. We stage clear of the venue, come forward on a call, and for credentialed events we supply the vehicle and chauffeur details in advance rather than at the barrier.

Conventions, arenas and performance. Event work here collides with federal security more than with ordinary traffic. Inaugurations, state visits and demonstrations reshape the drivable map, and none of them appear on a mapping application.

Culture, dining and the region. Museum, monument and diplomatic-entertaining work is a real part of Washington ground transport, and much of it runs to a fixed schedule that does not tolerate being late.

Walter E. Washington Convention Center

Mount Vernon Square

A large floor in the middle of the city rather than on its edge, which is unusual and means a big show pushes traffic through downtown rather than around it. Several entrances serve different halls and the right one depends on the event. We confirm the hall, not just the building.

  • Central location
  • Multiple hall entrances
  • Confirm the hall

Capital One Arena

Penn Quarter

In the middle of Penn Quarter with restaurants and theatres on every side, so an arena night and a dinner crowd arrive together. There is no good vehicle position at the doors. We collect from a block or two out, which on a sell-out is comfortably faster than waiting.

  • No door pickup
  • Collect a block out

The Kennedy Center

Foggy Bottom

Three halls sharing one site beside the Potomac with a single main access road, and performances that finish within minutes of each other. The result is one very large departure through a bottleneck. We stage on Virginia Avenue and come forward on a call rather than joining the queue.

  • Three halls at once
  • Single access road
  • Staged on Virginia Avenue

Nationals Park

Navy Yard

In Navy Yard, a district that has been rebuilt around it and handles crowds better than most ballparks. The Metro takes a large share, which helps. Road access is reasonable and there are workable staging points a short walk from the gates.

  • Navy Yard
  • Heavy Metro share
  • Workable staging

Audi Field

Buzzard Point

South-west of Navy Yard on Buzzard Point, with fewer approach roads than the ballpark and less transit capacity. Match nights concentrate traffic onto a small number of streets. We work from the Navy Yard side rather than trying to reach the stadium directly.

  • Buzzard Point
  • Few approaches
  • Work from Navy Yard

The Anthem

The Wharf

At the Wharf on the Southwest Waterfront, in a development with limited vehicle access and a great deal of pedestrian traffic in the evening. The Wharf has designated pickup areas that genuinely work if you use them and do not if you improvise.

  • The Wharf
  • Designated pickup areas
  • Heavy foot traffic

Warner Theatre

Downtown

On 13th Street downtown, close enough to the White House perimeter that a closure can affect the approach without affecting the show. Curtain coincides with restaurant traffic. We work from E or F Street depending on which is open that evening.

  • Near the perimeter
  • E or F Street
  • Evening restaurant traffic

The embassy and museum reception circuit

Across the city

Embassy Row, the Smithsonian museums, the Hill reception rooms and the private clubs carry a great deal of evening work, almost all of it credentialed. Vehicle and chauffeur details are usually required in advance and guest lists are checked at the gate. We supply what is needed at booking rather than at the barrier.

  • Credentialed access
  • Details supplied in advance
  • Embassy Row

Getting to the Washington DC venues

Door to venue, ordinary conditions. The right-hand column means an event night, which downtown frequently coincides with a closure rather than merely a rush hour.

How Washington DC event work is priced

Event transfers are quoted per route, and event and reception evenings are usually better booked hourly — a reception does not end to a timetable and a vehicle released at the start cannot be recalled into a closed street. All of it is quoted per route and confirmed in writing before you travel, with no surge pricing at any hour.

For a delegation or a multi-vehicle reception movement we plan it as one operation with a single point of contact on the night, and supply all vehicle and chauffeur details for credentialing in advance.
