The San Francisco campuses we run to

Stanford is large enough that the building is the only useful instruction, and UCSF operates from several sites across the city under one name. The Bay Area’s academic and medical institutions generate constant international travel, and several of them are spread across multiple sites that share a name and nothing else. UCSF alone operates at Parnassus, Mission Bay and Mount Zion, which are three different journeys. We confirm the campus, the building and the entrance at booking, because getting any of those wrong here costs a quarter of an hour on foot.

Universities and medical centres. Stanford and the UC campuses generate constant academic, medical and research travel, and Stanford in particular is large enough that the building is the only useful instruction.

Stanford University

Stanford

A very large campus on the peninsula with its own internal road network, multiple entrances and a great deal of restricted vehicle access in the centre. The street address will reliably put a vehicle a long walk from where you want to be. Commencement and reunion weekends reshape the whole approach.

  • Very large campus
  • Internal road network
  • Building required

UC Berkeley

Berkeley

Across the bay on a hillside above the city, with narrow approach streets and limited vehicle access on campus itself. The Bay Bridge is the journey from San Francisco and it is the whole variable. Home football weekends fill Berkeley entirely.

  • Hillside campus
  • Bay Bridge dependent
  • Football weekends

UCSF

Parnassus, Mission Bay & Mount Zion

Three main sites across the city that share a name and very little else. Parnassus sits high on a hill with a constrained approach; Mission Bay is modern with proper access; Mount Zion is a city block. Confirming which one is the single most valuable thing at booking.

  • Three distinct sites
  • Parnassus is steep
  • Confirm the campus

University of San Francisco

Lone Mountain

On Lone Mountain in the middle of the city, a compact hillside campus with residential streets around it and steep approaches on two sides. Straightforward once you know which side to come up, and slow if you do not.

  • Hillside
  • Residential approaches
  • Directional

Santa Clara University

Santa Clara

In the South Bay with an open campus, easy parking and none of the access difficulty the city campuses have. Close to San Jose airport, which makes it one of the shortest campus runs in the region. Near Levi’s Stadium, so event nights affect the approach.

  • Easy access
  • Close to SJC
  • Stadium-night effect

Stanford Health Care

Palo Alto

Adjoining the university with its own entrances serving different services, and constant traffic through the day. Patients travel here from across the country, and the return time on a treatment day is rarely knowable, which is why we recommend hourly hire for those.

  • Adjoins the university
  • Entrance by service
  • Hourly for treatment days

UCSF Medical Center

Mission Bay & Parnassus

The Mission Bay hospital is modern with a proper drop-off designed for vehicles; Parnassus is an older site up a hill with a genuinely difficult approach. The two are a real journey apart and the names are easily confused when a booking is made.

  • Two very different sites
  • Mission Bay is easier

Lucile Packard Children’s

Palo Alto

On the Stanford medical campus with a dedicated family entrance and drop-off. Families travelling with children and equipment are much of this work and the vehicle matters as much as the route. We ask about equipment and seating at booking rather than at the kerb.

  • Family entrance
  • Equipment and seating
  • On the Stanford campus

To the San Francisco campuses

Door to campus, ordinary conditions. Berkeley from the city is a bridge crossing and behaves accordingly; the peninsula campuses follow the 101.

How San Francisco campus transfers are priced

Campus transfers are quoted per route and confirmed in writing before you travel, with no surge pricing at any hour. Recurring academic and medical bookings are set up as a standing arrangement with a named chauffeur wherever the schedule allows.

For a family visiting several campuses in a day, hourly hire is both cheaper and less stressful than a chain of transfers — particularly when one of them is across the bay and another is thirty-five miles down the peninsula.
