The Houston hotels we run to

Houston hotels mostly have proper forecourts and room to use them. After New York and Boston, this is a relief. The city’s executive hotels cluster downtown, around the Galleria and in the Museum District, with the Post Oak and the Uptown houses taking a large share of the corporate and energy business. Vehicle access here is genuinely good by the standards of most markets — space is the one thing Houston has. The considerations are distance and heat rather than kerb access, and we plan for both.

These are the addresses people actually give a chauffeur in Houston. The city is spread out enough that the district decides the journey far more than the distance does.

Where visiting executives stay. The Galleria and Uptown houses take most of the visiting corporate traffic, with the downtown properties serving the convention and energy business.

The Post Oak Hotel

Uptown

On Post Oak Boulevard in Uptown, a very large property with its own substantial drive and more space for vehicles than almost anywhere else in the city. Straightforward at any hour. Its position makes the Energy Corridor and the Galleria short runs and downtown a moderate one.

  • Substantial drive
  • Uptown
  • Easy at any hour

Four Seasons Houston

Downtown

On Lamar in the middle of downtown with a covered entrance and good access from the side street. Close to the convention centre and the ballpark, so event days affect the surrounding blocks. Among the better-organised downtown arrivals here.

  • Downtown
  • Covered entrance
  • Near the convention centre

The St. Regis Houston

River Oaks

In River Oaks on Briar Oaks Lane, quiet and residential with a discreet entrance and easy access. Away from the commercial districts entirely, which makes it calm and means the run to anywhere is a proper journey rather than a hop.

  • River Oaks
  • Quiet residential
  • Discreet entrance

Hotel ZaZa Museum District

Museum District

Opposite the Museum of Fine Arts with a compact forecourt and a busy drive, particularly at weekends when the museums fill. Close to the Medical Center, which makes it a common choice for families visiting patients there over several days.

  • Museum District
  • Near the Medical Center
  • Busy at weekends

The Lancaster Hotel

Theater District

On Texas Avenue in the theatre district, a small historic house on a street that fills on performance nights. The entrance is narrow and works best outside curtain times. We plan pickups around the theatre calendar rather than the clock.

  • Theater District
  • Narrow entrance
  • Curtain-time planning

Thompson Houston

Downtown

On Allen Parkway at the edge of downtown by Buffalo Bayou, with good access from the parkway and none of the downtown grid difficulty. Its position on the parkway makes the run west toward the Galleria and the Energy Corridor unusually quick.

  • Allen Parkway
  • Quick westbound
  • Easy access

JW Marriott Houston Downtown

Downtown

In the old Carter Building on Main Street, in the middle of the downtown grid with the light rail running past. Main Street has restrictions that catch out drivers who do not know them, and we work from the cross street instead.

  • Main Street
  • Light rail
  • Cross-street pickup

C. Baldwin

Downtown

In Allen Center on the western side of downtown, connected into the tunnel system and with proper vehicle access off the plaza. Well placed for the downtown energy offices and an easy departure westbound. A comfortable property to work.

  • Allen Center
  • Plaza access
  • Good westbound departure

La Colombe d’Or

Montrose

A small house in Montrose in a converted mansion, with a short drive and limited space, which is part of its character. Montrose streets are narrow and busy in the evening. We agree the arrival point rather than assuming the drive will be clear.

  • Montrose
  • Small drive
  • Evening congestion

From the Houston hotel districts to the airports

Door to kerb, ordinary conditions in dry weather. Everything is closer to Hobby than to Bush, which is the practical takeaway.

How Houston hotel transfers are priced

Hotel transfers are quoted per route and confirmed in writing before you travel, with no surge pricing at any hour. Hourly hire suits a day that begins and ends at the hotel with several stops between, which given the distances here is frequently the cheaper structure as well.

In summer we pre-cool the vehicle before arrival rather than on the way. It is a small thing and it is the difference between a comfortable first five minutes and an unpleasant ones.
