The San Antonio hotels we run to

The River Walk sits below street level. Half the hotels on it have two entrances and only one of them is any use to a vehicle. San Antonio’s hotels divide between the downtown and River Walk properties, the Pearl district just north, and the Hill Country resorts out to the north-west. The River Walk properties are the ones that need care: an entrance on the water and a separate one at street level, frequently on a different road with a different address. We confirm which door before you travel rather than working it out on arrival.

These are the addresses people actually give a chauffeur in San Antonio. The River Walk sits below street level, which is the single most common source of confusion for a first-time visitor.

Where visiting executives stay. The downtown and River Walk houses take the convention business, with The Pearl and the northern resorts serving corporate and leisure travel.

Hotel Emma

The Pearl

In the Pearl district in a converted brewhouse, with its own entrance off the complex roads and proper space for vehicles. Well away from the River Walk entrance confusion entirely. The Pearl fills at weekends with market and restaurant traffic, which is the one thing to time around.

  • The Pearl
  • Own entrance
  • Weekend market traffic

The St. Anthony

Downtown

On Travis Park downtown, a historic house with a covered entrance at street level rather than on the water, which makes it one of the more straightforward downtown pickups. Close to the convention centre without being inside its traffic.

  • Travis Park
  • Street-level entrance
  • Near the convention centre

Mokara Hotel & Spa

River Walk

Directly on the River Walk with the main guest entrance on the water and the vehicle entrance above on East Crockett. This is the classic two-entrance property and the one most often booked to the wrong address. We use Crockett and confirm it beforehand.

  • Two entrances
  • Vehicle entrance on Crockett
  • Commonly misbooked

Thompson San Antonio

River Walk

At the northern end of the River Walk near the museum reach, newer with purpose-built vehicle access from the street. Easier than the older River Walk properties because the access was designed rather than adapted.

  • Museum reach
  • Purpose-built access
  • Easier than the older houses

La Cantera Resort

North-west

Out at La Cantera on a hilltop with golf and extensive grounds, reached by its own long entrance road. Casitas and wings are spread widely, so the building matters. A genuine drive from downtown and a moderate one from the airport.

  • Hilltop resort
  • Long entrance road
  • Building matters

JW Marriott Hill Country

North

A very large resort north of the city with substantial arrival capacity and heavy conference and group business. Built to handle coaches and many cars at once, which makes group arrivals here straightforward. Well away from downtown.

  • Very large resort
  • Built for groups
  • Away from downtown

Grand Hyatt San Antonio

River Walk

Attached to the convention centre on the River Walk, which makes it the most convenient property in the city during a show and the busiest. Substantial arrival area. During large conventions access moves to managed points and we work from those.

  • Attached to the convention centre
  • Busy in show weeks
  • Managed access

Hotel Havana

River Walk north

A small historic house on the quieter northern stretch of the river near the museum reach, with a modest street entrance and limited space outside. Charming and compact, which means the arrival needs agreeing rather than assuming.

  • Quiet northern stretch
  • Modest entrance
  • Agree the arrival

Canopy by Hilton

Downtown

Downtown near the river with straightforward street-level access and no water-entrance confusion. A practical, easy property to work and well placed for both the convention centre and the Pearl.

  • Street-level access
  • No entrance confusion
  • Well placed

How San Antonio hotel transfers are priced

Hotel and resort transfers are quoted per route and confirmed in writing before you travel, with no surge pricing at any hour. The Hill Country properties are quoted as the longer transfers they genuinely are rather than as a local run.

For a River Walk hotel, tell us the property and we will confirm the street-level entrance before you travel. It is the most common source of confusion in this city and entirely avoidable.
