The two Dallas–Fort Worth airports
DFW is eighteen miles from Downtown Dallas and twenty-one from Downtown Fort Worth. Love Field is seven from Downtown Dallas. Choosing between them is the first decision, not a detail. The Metroplex runs two commercial airports that behave nothing alike. DFW is a vast five-terminal hub between the two cities, built around American Airlines and the long-haul and international traffic; Love Field is a single compact terminal close to the Dallas core, built around Southwest. This page covers what actually matters when a chauffeur is meeting you at either: which terminal, what happens when the flight slips, and how long the run really takes.
DFW International (DFW)
Five horseshoe terminals, A to E, either side of International Parkway, joined airside by the Skylink train but not by anything a car can use quickly. Each horseshoe has its own arrivals level and its own garage, so a vehicle waiting at Terminal C is a loop of the airport away from a passenger at Terminal E. We read the terminal and the gate off the flight number on the day rather than the itinerary, because American moves flights between terminals more often than travellers expect.
Dallas Love Field (DAL)
One terminal, twenty gates, a few minutes from Uptown and the Medical District along Mockingbird Lane and Cedar Springs. It is small enough that a kerb pickup genuinely works, but the kerb is short and fills fast when several Southwest banks land together, so a car that arrives early and waits is moved on. We hold nearby and pull forward to the actual landing.
Which airport for which part of the Metroplex
For Downtown, Uptown, the Park Cities, the Medical District and most of North Dallas, Love Field is usually the quicker airport door to door. For Fort Worth, Las Colinas, Westlake, Southlake and Grapevine it is DFW without question. Plano and Frisco sit in between and the answer depends on the hour. If the flights are not yet booked, ask us first.
Dallas–Fort Worth customs, construction and delays
International arrivals at Terminal D
Most international flights clear customs at Terminal D, and the time between landing and walking out can run anywhere from twenty minutes to well over an hour depending on how many wide-bodies land together. We time the meet to when you actually clear rather than the scheduled arrival, and the chauffeur waits inside arrivals with your name rather than circling the upper roadway.
A working construction site
DFW is in the middle of a long rebuild: Terminal C is being reconstructed from kerb to gate and a sixth terminal, F, is under construction south of Terminal D. Lane closures and temporary pickup arrangements move with the work. Chauffeurs check the current layout for the terminal rather than relying on how it was last month.
Delays, diversions and storms
Spring and early-summer thunderstorms in North Texas ground-stop both airports and send arrivals to Austin, Houston or Oklahoma City. We track the aircraft rather than the schedule, so a delay is absorbed without a call, and a diversion is re-planned from wherever the flight actually lands — including a long-distance run if you would rather drive the last leg.
From the two Dallas–Fort Worth airports into the Metroplex
Door to kerb, ordinary conditions. The Love Field rows are the argument for flying into it when your business is central Dallas; the DFW rows are the argument for everything west.
The Metroplex is a grid of freeways and toll roads rather than a single centre, so the airport that is closer on the map is not always the quicker one — Love Field wins for most of Dallas proper, DFW for everything west and north-west.

How Dallas–Fort Worth airport transfers are priced
Every airport route is quoted per route and confirmed in writing before you travel, with no surge pricing at any hour. DFW charges commercial vehicles to enter the airport and that fee is shown as its own line.
Executive sedans take three passengers with three bags; Suburban-class SUVs take six with six. Tell us the headcount and the checked luggage and we will send the vehicle that fits both. Waiting caused by a late flight is not charged, because that is the point of tracking it.
