The Raleigh–Durham hotels we run to
The Umstead sits in Cary minutes from RDU. The Carolina Inn is in the middle of a campus that closes after a basketball win. Triangle accommodation is spread across three cities rather than concentrated in one, and where you stay decides how much of the week you spend in the car. Cary and RTP sit closest to the airport and central to everything; Chapel Hill and Durham put you next to the universities and a drive from Raleigh. Vehicle access is generally good, with the campus-edge properties the exception on event weekends.
These are the addresses people actually give a chauffeur in the Triangle. On a research campus set back among pines, the building is the only instruction that helps.
Where visiting executives stay. Downtown Raleigh and North Hills take the corporate traffic, with Durham and Chapel Hill serving the university business.
The Umstead Hotel and Spa
Cary
In Cary on its own grounds beside a lake, with a long private drive and a quiet arrival court. Minutes from RDU and central to the whole Triangle, which makes it the most practical luxury base here. Among the shortest airport transfers in the market.
The Carolina Inn
Chapel Hill
On the UNC campus at the top of Franklin Street, which is both the appeal and the difficulty. Campus access applies, the surrounding streets are narrow, and after a basketball win Franklin Street fills with students and closes entirely. We plan around the calendar rather than the clock.
The Durham Hotel
Downtown Durham
In downtown Durham on Corcoran Street, a compact modernist property with limited kerb on a street that is busy through the evening. Good access outside the dinner rush and an agreed point during it. Short run to Duke and to RTP.
21c Museum Hotel Durham
Downtown Durham
In a restored bank building downtown with a street-level entrance and a museum open to the public, which brings its own foot traffic. Central for the American Tobacco district and the restaurants. Straightforward outside event nights at the DPAC.
Washington Duke Inn
Duke campus
On the Duke campus beside the golf course, with a long approach through university grounds and a proper arrival court. Convenient for the university and subject to campus access on commencement and game weekends, when the whole area fills.
The StateView Hotel
NC State Centennial Campus
On NC State’s Centennial Campus in Raleigh, purpose-built with proper vehicle access and parking. Convenient for the university and the research buildings around it, and a short run into downtown Raleigh.
Raleigh Marriott City Center
Downtown Raleigh
Attached to the convention centre in downtown Raleigh with substantial arrival capacity built for group business. During a show it sits at the centre of everything. Downtown Raleigh drives easily, which makes this a comfortable property to work.
AC Hotel Raleigh North Hills
North Hills
In North Hills a few miles north of downtown Raleigh, in a newer mixed-use district with purpose-built access and structured parking. None of the older-downtown difficulty. Well placed for the midtown corporate business.

How Raleigh–Durham hotel transfers are priced
Hotel transfers are quoted per route and confirmed in writing before you travel, with no surge pricing at any hour. Hourly hire suits a day that begins and ends at the hotel and touches more than one of the three cities.
If you have not chosen where to stay and your week spans the Triangle, Cary or RTP will save you real driving compared with Chapel Hill or Raleigh. We will say so plainly.
